HOW WE WORK

Parallel reports and produces journalism collaboratively. We pool our expertise and skills to produce stories that are deeply reported and compellingly told. We strike investigative partnerships on many stories. Parallel’s reporters speak multiple languages.

To distribute our work, we strike agreements with both established and emerging studios and digital platforms, matching each project to the right production partner, regional market, and budget to ensure our journalism reaches audiences worldwide.

Aaron Shulman is Parallel’s CEO. He is the author of The Age of Disenchantments and the co-founder of Splash Literary, a leading book-collaboration agency. He has reported on human rights abuses in Guatemala, dug through historical archives across Spain, and ghostwritten bestselling books for scientists and business leaders.

WHO WE ARE

Meaghan Beatley is a Franco-US journalist who writes about complicated women unleashing chaos, whether in a bid to expose respected public intellectuals as sexual predators, denounce unjust laws, or simply party till dawn without getting assaulted.

Marc Herman is Parallel’s COO. He is a longtime correspondent for American and European media and the author of a book about a gold rush in the Amazon forest. He volunteers with South Asia Speaks, a development program for South Asian journalists.

Darren Loucaides specializes in deep dives on the intersection of politics and tech. His work for WIRED includes a cover story about the messaging platform Telegram, a feature on the Brazilian hackers who helped free Lula, and another on the techno-utopians who took over Italy’s government.

Sam Edwards is drawn to stories of larger-than-life characters seeking redemption in a world in upheaval. He’s written about drug cartel veterans struggling to reform, corrupt officials bringing down governments, and a horse-killing gang that never existed.

Lisa Abend has interviewed Finnish prime ministers and German chancellors, and written about Tamil Nadu followers of palm-leaf astrology; Estonians preparing for Russian invasion; and young chefs who indenture themselves in the world’s top restaurants.
